A good Project Leader understands instinctively how to motivate the individuals in a team, without resorting to rank or authoritarianism. They treat team members with respect, and they focus on clearing obstacles to success for the team. Project leaders are professional at all times, they lead by example and they inspire people to work together.
At FOCO, we focus on providing excellence in both project management and project leadership. We reduce and control stress by establishing and maintaining a positive workplace culture on every project. We are transforming the industry one project at a time.
EMPOWERING TEAM MEMBERS
In keeping with our mission statement, we actively seek out opportunities to transfer skills to others in our consultancy role. We hold free workshops for client groups and project teams at various milestone points throughout the project so that the whole team is informed and empowered for confident decision making. We share ideas, and most importantly, we listen.
We provide training to contractors, engineers, quantity surveyors and architects in key project management skill areas. There are many areas of crossover skills between disciplines, the most common being team leadership, construction law, design management, BIM and risk management.
TRANSFORMING THE NZ CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY
We are all aware of the worrying trend of poor mental health arising from extreme stress in the NZ construction industry. Most of us have experienced first-hand being thrown in at the deep end on projects without adequate preparation, training and/or resources to do the job properly. We have all grown to accept an adversarial culture between disciplines and trades rather than professional and collaborative teamwork.
This is not healthy. Let's change this culture for the next generation...and ourselves
